No Quarter Flag

The draft novel Boudica and The Butcher dramatizes the horror of war set in a future Second American Civil War.

During the siege of Pilgerrah, present day Cleveland but renamed by the rebels in respect for the original native settlers, a previously captured rebel soldier named Ella sewed a new banner for The Butcher’s Army.

Its display is intended to make rebel cities surrender at the sight of it.

The red background is based in the historic all red No Quarter flag. As that ensign was coopted by the communists, The Butcher’s flag is crossed diagonally with white stripes the cross out the Marxist ideology inspiring the rebels. In the foreground, the silhouette of a black skull promises death to rebels who oppose The Butcher’s Union army.

Denied permission to use a nuclear weapon on a rebel city, The Butcher employs the oldest weapons of mass destruction: siege, famine, and disease. The horrors committed by The Butcher at the siege of Pilgerrah are intended to terrify other cities into surrender.
