Imagining Vic

Of my characters, one of my favorites is Cyn. She stars in three short stories: “Cyn’s Obsession,” “Cyn’s Trap,” and “Cyn Victorious.” Unfortunately for her, Cyn’s dreams of becoming an actress have fallen flat with no roles other than her disliked job as a studio tour guide. In her disappointment, she develops unhealthy obsessions on actors before she kidnaps them.

In “Cyn’s Obsession,” she kidnaps an actor named Brad. As it is her first kidnapping, she accidentally shoots him. In the end, she ends up in the psych ward while Brad recovers in another section of the hospital.

In “Cyn’s Trap,” after her discharge from the ‘hospital,’ Cyn kidnaps another actor named Vic. Eventually, he turns the tables on her and takes her prisoner. Instead of turning Cyn into the police, Vic attempts to understand why Cyn kidnapped him. In the end, Vic recognizes that she is the only person who is honest with him, so he releases her and offers to go on a date with her.

“Cyn Victorious” has not been drafted yet, but the plan is for Cyn and Vic to have that date at which Cyn’s character is explored then accepted by Vic.

The idea of Vic was inspired by Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, which interviews actors and other Hollywood insiders while putting a human face on them. Vic as an actor has become disillusioned by the false illusion in his fame and success. Before Cyn kidnaps him, Vic laments about whether he is still an artist or has become simply a product. The alienation caused by the falsity in his life makes Cyn’s honesty a refreshing change that allows him to be open to her after he is no longer her prisoner.

Copilot created a sample image of Vic for me.
