If you have read my draft chapter “Harvest of Blood” then you have met Asclepia without knowing her name.
Initially her story was drafted as a standalone story in the same future Second American Civil War setting as Boudica and The Butcher, but I liked her so much that I decided to make her story the first chapter of the novel.
As I began editing the fourth chapter of the novel, I am expanding on one sentence in that draft to give her a major scene that did not originally include her, but only a generic medic. After editing, I expect for her to reappear in later scenes such as Boudica and Olga caring for injured soldiers in the infirmary, and during medical treatment for The Butcher after an assassination attempt.
The Butcher’s chief doctor had named her Asclepia after the female attendants at the Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus.
Facebook created a sample image for me of her walking on a recent battlefield in that first chapter.
