Imagining Mauvielle

The premise of one of those Chad blind dating stories was that his date was an alphabet people activist, more specifically she was pansexual. I wanted to give her an uncommon name which would give representation to those thinking outside the norm.

I ended up naming her Mauvielle as a feminization of a brand of copper pans; Mauviel is a French surname meaning ‘great humanity’ per my minimal internet searching. Other appellations inspired by pan brand names that I considered included Demeyere (meaning mayor, so a community leader) and Creusette (adapted from a word meaning crucible). The whole pan theme just made me laugh.

Mauvielle’s story isn’t plot critical so she will not make the cut for my draft The Misadventures of Chad Seeking a Wife novel but will go into a companion anthology with the goth chick Lillith sporting the blood tear makeup. However, the blind date with 300 lbs. body positivity activist will likely make the novel as it included Chad’s reaction to learning that Audrey, his final date, no longer worked as a waitress at the restaurant where he meets all his blind dates.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.

See “Harvest of Blood” in this site’s menu bar for a preview of a draft chapter from Boudica and The Butcher, a novel set in a future Second American Civil War.
