Editing Cyn’s Trap

It took me a while to edit my second Cyn story, in part because it was 8x longer than the first; however, it also deals with ideas that repeat in my other stories, so I want to get it right. This story is heavy on the relationship between openness and honesty with trust.

Overall “Cyn’s Trap” is comedic. This time, instead of accidentally shooting the famous actor Cyn kidnapped, Vic subdues Cyn, so the kidnapper becomes the captive.

When drafting I opted to go overboard with the option to dial it back in editing. In this story, I had to decide whether or not to keep the nudity as it alone would raise the rating from PG-13 to R. Physical intimacy is limited to a few kisses, but Cyn spends most of the story tied to a bed naked…as one does.

Why would I write that???? The story is about openness and honesty; thus, her nudity represents removal of all pretense and affectation as Cyn become vulnerable and openly only herself. Meanwhile, as a seemingly powerless captive, Cyn seduces Vic (her kidnap victim) with her raw honesty which connects to his personal disillusionment with the false image of his life as a famous actor.

I plan to write a 3rd installment “Cyn Victorious” as I am starting to like Cyn as a character.

Currently, I am a drafter and plodding editor of my own fiction stories. Looking towards the future when edited stories turn into published ones.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.

See “Harvest of Blood” in this site’s menu bar for a preview of a draft chapter from Boudica and The Butcher, a novel set in a future Second American Civil War.
