Viking Raid on College

I was flashing back on an old never drafted story idea that was keeping me awake. I hope that writing it down will get it out of my head for now.

The setting is a small coastal New England college in current year. Call it Maine because Stephen King. A Viking raiding longship comes out of a rip in time to go all Lindisfarne on the college. A group of varied and conflicting students barricade themselves in an academic building attempting to survive the night.

The story is about modern idealism confronting brutal reality where the assumptions of a peaceful high trust society persisting are illusions. Thus it is about the reality of Leftist dreams of tearing down the system or the patriarchy which invites a return of barbarism.

In genre, it would be like a slasher horror movie but with Vikings instead of Jason or Freddie or fill in the blank. However, updated for modern audiences, it is “the message” meets FAFO.

Currently, I am a drafter and plodding editor of my own fiction stories. Looking towards the future when edited stories turn into published ones.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.

See “Harvest of Blood” in this site’s menu bar for a preview of a draft chapter from Boudica and The Butcher, a novel set in a future Second American Civil War.
