Famine as a War Tactic

Famine is a key tactic within The Butcher’s strategy to end the Second American Civil War in my drafting novel Boudica and The Butcher. Worse, it is his intent to reduce the besieged rebel army to cannibalism in Pilgerruh in order to terrorize the other rebel cities into surrender. I have had the siege of Vicksburg from the first Civil War in mind to ground this aspect of the story.

One of the teaser draft short stories that I wrote to flesh out the story world was about a raid into the city to destroy a food warehouse.

Another teaser draft short story I wrote featuring Comrade Thumper, a political enforcer in the rebel army, has Thumper harassing a soldier scavenging for food in the rubble; that story ends with Thumper directing the soldier to where she had recently seen a dead rat that might be eaten.

Warographics recently posted a vid about the contemporary use of famine as a weapon of war.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.
