Clown Girls Have Big Shoes

While doing some formatting of my “Clown Girl” draft short story, I almost did a spit take as I read, “Clownie leaned forward as she took off her oversized shoes, throwing them to the side.” The shoe reference was a humorous parallel to the shoes of thots going to da club in current year. During editing, I will want to play up such parallels related to clownish fakeup and bizarre hair styles.

This humorous piece parodies contemporary hookup culture without commitment or even dating while focused upon hedonistic materialism, licentiousness, and promiscuity. While no prude, I do object to context evading hedonism in all its forms.

As part of this, I decided to rename the drafted male character from ‘Chris’ to a name associated with PUA, pick up artists. I opted for ‘Strauss’ after the author of The Game, in which the decadent men are so corrupted by their low self-esteem that rocker Courtney Love is the voice of reason in the book.

In the end, my ‘Clown Girl’ draft is a happy story in which the clown girl runs away from the circus to create a home and family.
