Imagining Boudica

For the longest time, I had unsuccessful at a sample image of my character Boudica in Boudica and The Butcher. I knew that the AI would have trouble with such a character as she starts the story as a 17-year-old child soldier conscripted into the rebel army.

I tried to build the prompt one detail at a time. However, adding more realistic details caused the AI to object.

Below is the best first cut. Which was an improvement despite the earring. The prompt I used was “Headshot of a frowning 18-year-old brunette from her shoulders up, no jewelry, no makeup. gaunt face.”

Other AIs would choke on the word “gaunt” but then I also combined with the word “malnourished.” The prompt of giving her dark circles under her eyes was also problematic.

In the options provided to the prompt, I appreciated that it inherited details that I had previously been unsuccessful with tweaking like “au natural without being salacious.” Two details the AI added that I liked was that she is in profile and her hair is tucked behind her ear.

Why did I make her underage? I wanted to include the horror of child soldiers in my anti-war story. The other female rebel soldiers in the story are all older.
