I like creating an AI image to go with a story or character as he helps me visualize them for editing.
Recently Gemini has become non-functional for creating human images and Copilot is becoming increasingly crippled by constraints.
I just wanted an image created of a fat teenage boy dejected because a girl rejected his request for a date. Copilot couldn’t do it because Copilot said that the image might offend someone. I even described the story so it could understand that it was not offensive but about someone overcoming a challenge:
“So here is the scenario for the short story. A teenage boy asks his female friend on a date. She rejects him and shames him for being fat. In response, he joined the football team, exercises, eats right, and becomes fit. After he reformed himself, the superficial girl wanted to date him, but he was no longer interested because of her cruelty.”
Copilot tried to work with me as I negotiated within its developer imposed constraints. However, it couldn’t create an overweight teenaged boy after repeated tries.
I gave Grok a try with the same task. No problem. Grok takes longer to gen images but at least it isn’t so subject matter crippled. Also, I found the Grok image sympathetic to the subject instead of trying to pretend that he can’t exist.
