Chad Says No to Sex

After forcing myself to not draft new stories so I could edit, I allowed myself to draft one just to make sure that I still could.

I revisited Chad from The Misadventures of Chad Seeking a Wife in a prequel teaser story. He goes into a bar after work on a Friday night to drink and think. Iris had died of a drug overdose the night before. He had not yet decided yet how he was going to change his ways but was in an introspective mood due to his grief and guilt.

As he drank alone at the bar, Eliza approached to hit on him. He turns out to not be what she expected. At first, she tries to be supportive. Then she becomes condemning when she learns that Iris was only a situationship that he did not care about before she died. As Eliza becomes more sympathetic, she tries to convince him that he needs to find love, but he insists that he doesn’t have time for that. As he reveals more about why he has never gone on a date or been in love, she learns that he does plan to marry but first focused on building his startup and becoming wealthy; at this point she becomes almost predatory salivating over him like he was wounded prey.

In the end, he turns down her request to spend the night with him. It is the moment when Chad stopped being the meme as he began to understand the consequences of his promiscuous indulgence of randos’ desires for him.

Unlike the usual Chad story, this one was about him facing truth and being changed instead of a focus on the female leads character development in the story.

Currently, I am a drafter and plodding editor of my own fiction stories. Looking towards the future when edited stories turn into published ones.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.

See “Harvest of Blood” in this site’s menu bar for a preview of a draft chapter from Boudica and The Butcher, a novel set in a future Second American Civil War.
