Two phrases of famous last words common to men are “But she loves me” and “I can fix her.”
Just as Chad in The Misadventures of Chad Seeking a Wife is based on the meme character, who I put into a story about him looking for a wife, my character Barbora in Fixing Barbora is the stereotype of the young woman with the thousand-cock stare. After a life of promiscuity, she is jaded and emotionally scabbed over. She does not know how to accept love, give love, nor does she love herself. While she presents a different face to the world, but she knows her own neurosis, fears, and doubts.
Ahmed is both a catch and a SIMP. He overlooks her damage as he focuses on her potential. Like Boudica in Boudica and The Butcher who tries to use her courage to save The Butcher, Ahmed tries to save Barbora with his optimism.
The first four chapters are a love story that seems to be going well until the couple has to face her issues. I often write about honesty and openness, but this story is a variation in that Barbora is dishonest with herself while not being open with Ahmed. However, her inner conflict comes out in Ch 5 “Struggles with Doubt” and the couple needs to work on it together or they will have to split.
