Fan Fic

My Fan Fic story starts as a romcom about a 50-year-old actress. She is successful with her own production company and several books published, but she recently got dumped by her boyfriend of several decades. She meets a fan who helps her deal with her grief, and they form a friendship that becomes more.

That part of the story is the fantasy of the middle-aged woman who after a failed relationship finds a man who respects her professional achievements while being verbally emotionally intelligent and supportive of her needs. Meanwhile, as an extension of the hypergamous fantasy, he is wealthier than her and wears his years well.

The middle part of the story is about a competition between the new girlfriend and his executive secretary over the man. This is my original Valerie character, who is young, intelligent, and hypercompetent. Their conflict is that between a work wife vs. a life wife.

Valerie has the upper hand as she controls and micromanages his schedules and priorities. Further, Valerie is with him constantly while the girlfriend lives on the other coast, so is limited to being a part timer. This is about what does it mean with be with someone as part of their life as opposed to just being there for a good time.

Based on my personal bias, the life wife will win that competition.

As the draft is incomplete, the competition is still active. The intended final part of the story is about the two women learning to cooperate; think work/life balance.

Currently, I am a drafter and plodding editor of my own fiction stories. Looking towards the future when edited stories turn into published ones.

Here I am starting to bare my soul to give you a preview of what I have been working on.

See “Harvest of Blood” in this site’s menu bar for a preview of a draft chapter from Boudica and The Butcher, a novel set in a future Second American Civil War.
