School Dealer Enabler

I thought of a new story idea.

A former high school star athlete becomes a deputy and is assigned to the same high school he attended to become an SRO. He is a local hero for his past athletic achievements.

The school is a man desert other than a few gay or committed married men. Consequently, several of the female teaching staff compete in an effort to be the one who seduces the new SRO, former athlete and local hero. Despite his being married, one female teacher succeeded, leading to an affair.

The campus drug dealer finds out about the affair and blackmails the SRO into ignoring the campus drug dealer’s activities or the dealer will report the affair to the SRO’s wife. Fearing divorce with losing his kids and his stuff, the SRO agrees. The drug dealer reassures the SRO that the drugs are mainly sold to parents and teachers as students aren’t good customers.

Eventually a student dies from a fentanyl overdose. Does the SRO come clean at a risk to himself or does he engage in a cover up? Is the SRO’s affair partner innocent or working with the dealer to support her habit?

I think the end is that the SRO kills the dealer to pin the overdose on the dealer while also protecting his own secrets. I think that is the most corrupt outcome. Adultery leads to blackmail then death then murder.

Like Lady Macbeth, I think that I will make the SRO’s lover the driving force behind the murder of the drug dealer. Her motive was to maintain the affair, in part by making the SRO a fraudulent hero and binding him to her as she would know his worst secret.

The story will be a tragedy about the choices that ruined a man.

Note: this story idea came from an argument with Copilot comparing and contrasting decay in American public education with Asian education models…as one does.
